The Sixty Domed Mosque

Located about an hour’s drive from Khulna city, the Sixty Domed Mosque is a masterpiece built by Khan Jahan Ali in the 15th century. Despite the name, the mosque actually has 77 domes, including seven chauchala-style domes, supported by 60 pillars—giving the mosque its famous title. The entire structure is made of terracotta bricks and features beautifully arched corridors, thick walls, and a large prayer hall. It is considered one of the oldest and most significant mosques in Bangladesh, attracting visitors for its architectural beauty, peaceful surroundings, and historical value.

Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 01- Dhaka to Khulna, Visit Otter fishing village.
Early in the morning we drive to Khulna, En route in Narial district we visit the Otter fishing village in Narail district. Meet the local Otter Fishermen and see how the local people are catching fishes with otters. We will meet with the fishermen and learn about the challenges they face. We then proceed to Bagerhat and will see famous sixty domed Mosque, an UNESCO world heritage site. Here you’ll see some of the more ancient terra-cotta buildings in the country. We then drive back to Khulna. Overnight at Grand Placid or similar in Khulna.
Day 02- Khulna to Barisal Visit Pottery village
Today morning we drive to Pottery village in Masheshpur, Bakerganj of Barisal district, this is the largest pottery village of Bangladesh. Meet the pottery artisan and his family, see how they work. You can even try yourself how it’s done. We return back to Barisal which is known as the Venice of Bengal because of it’s numerous rivers & canals. Barisal is also the center of country’s rice production. Late afternoon we take a walk in the old part of the town to see different kind of activities such as Gold & Black Smith shops, Spice sellers, Vegetable vendors etc. Overnight at the best hotel in town Grand Park Hotel.
Day 03- Backwater Tour, Barisal to Dhaka
Today early morning drive to Banaripara to enjoy the backwater trip. You may see the river dolphins jumping and water gypsies moving around. Barisal is called the Venice of Bangal because of many rivers & canals. It’s also center of country’s main rice production & guava plantation. We will also see brick kilns, floating rice markets, rice fields, etc. After a true Bengali village experience we return back to Barishal.On the way back to Barisal, we will visit the Ghutia Mosque, which is the largest and most modern mosque in the region. After lunch we drive back to Dhaka.
